It seems like children’s entertainment has taken a turn in recent years. Gone are the days of nice and wholesome Mr. Rogers. Now, wokeness wants to have a say in your child’s mind. Many movie and television production companies have been caught forcing progressive ideas into media for children. The Buzz Lightyear movie could have been a nice opportunity for parents to revisit a familiar character with their children. But wise parents found out that a lesbian relationship was made prominent in the movie, and many parents wisely skipped it.
This is not an exception. Television cartoons and animations for kids often feature progressive ideas. Steven Universe, a cartoon for kids, frequently lectures young viewers about diversity, inclusivity, privilege, and sexual identity. These are not topics for kids!
IGN reported in September: “Inside Out 2 is the highest-grossed animated film ever. But behind the scenes, Pixar workers grappled with crunch, layoffs, and avoiding LGBTQ+ themes.”
Let me make this abundantly clear: if you are making a kids’ movie, avoiding sexual themes should be a foregone conclusion. It should not be something that employees must grapple with to the point that it is newsworthy.
Thankfully, this is something that we have a say in. We can vote with our dollars. If a kids’ movie is pushing woke propaganda, do not buy a ticket or watch it on streaming. Skip it and post about it, encouraging your friends with children to do the same.
You can hurt the production company’s bottom line. If they realize their pro-LGBT kids’ movie is causing them to hemorrhage cash, they will make a change. Do not compromise on the culture your kids consume. Get them some classic Mr. Rogers or old-school Sesame Street instead.
