Election integrity is a critically important aspect of our Republic. Without election integrity, America will fall apart. The fight for election integrity is going on at the state level as well. A July Federalist article by Logan Washburn explains how Marc Elias and his law firm are accused of undermining Ohio’s election integrity. The Elias Law Group, founded by the Russia hoaxer Elias, is suing to overturn House Bill 1, which bans foreign nationals from funding state ballot measures. This lawsuit is a direct attack on Ohio’s sovereignty and electoral process.
Marc Elias is infamous for his involvement in the Russia hoax. Washburn states: “Elias, while working for a law firm whose client was Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, paid Fusion GPS for the infamous Steele dossier that accused former President Donald Trump of ties to Russia.” This dossier misled the public in an attempt to discredit Trump.
The lawsuit claims, “All noncitizens are now threatened with investigation, criminal prosecution, and mandatory fines if they even indicate they intend to engage in any election-related spending or contributions.” This exaggeration mischaracterizes the law, which aims to protect Ohio elections from foreign influence.
Elias’ firm has deep ties to left-wing dark-money groups, having received $5 million from George Soros to challenge election integrity measures, as noted by Influence Watch. The firm has also represented Arabella Advisors, highlighting a pattern of undermining democratic processes for partisan gain. The Democrats cry about election interference by foreign countries. It turns out, that foreign money is flowing into election fortification that only helps the democrats.
Elias Law Group’s lawsuit is a transparent power grab by dark-money interests seeking to manipulate American elections. Ohio’s election integrity must be upheld and this lawsuit is recognized for what it truly is: Democrat election meddling.
