Double-Standards at SCOTUS

Throughout the year, Democrats have repeatedly targeted conservative-leaning Supreme Court justices. They do it under the guise of justice, fairness, and legality, but these attacks are actually politically motivated. Earlier this year, they demanded that Justice Clarence Thomas recuse himself from the court because his wife is involved in conservative politics. However, the left made no similar claims about the left-wing judges presiding over Trump’s legal cases.

Katie Pavlich wrote in Townhall.com: “As powerful Democrats continue their assault on the Supreme Court by attacking conservative justices for failing to disclose gifts, which they aren’t even required to do, they’ve conveniently failed to hold liberal justices to the same standard.” The left will use a fine-toothed comb to find any wrongdoing by a conservative, but they sure let things slide for their side of the aisle.

In June, Pavlich wrote, “It was revealed Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was gifted concert tickets directly from Beyonce and did not disclose them.” The Supreme Court is a tremendously powerful institution, so there must be proper scrutiny of any gifts to justices. Justice Jackson did not disclose the gift she received, violating her legal requirements. And this was not the only time she failed to disclose.

Well-known jurist Mark Paoletta wrote on X that “Justice Jackson failed to disclose husband’s medical malpractice consulting fees for years.” This was not an honest mistake. Paoletta continues to state that “She knew she was required to as she disclosed his fees in her first report in 2012. Then she failed to disclose these fees for a decade, as she admitted in her 2022 filing.”

These double standards are unsurprising. The left has one set of rules for their friends and another set of rules for their enemies. A fair and just society requires that both sides of the political aisle hold each other accountable for their wrongdoings.
