There is no greater force for the good of children on this planet than parents who take their role seriously. It is only because of vigilant and loving parents that children can be protected from a world that seeks to corrupt them. Liberals scorn the idea that there are forces out there seeking to take the innocence of children, but I can’t help but wonder why. We all hear and accept the platitude that “Children are our future,” so is it really so hard to believe that something as valuable as the future of our society would be sought after by those with ill intent?
A lot of headlines have been given to parents who express concern about graphic books in our libraries. The liberal publication Slate published a telling article by a liberal father of two named Aymann Ismail who went on a quest to see what all the hype was about. He went to his local library counter and requested a book called It’s Perfectly Normal by Robin Harris. According to Ismail’s narrative, the librarian’s “eyes widened when she recognized the cover,” and she warned the father “I’ve seen this one before. It’s like, really, really detailed. Like, very graphic.”
Undeterred, Ismail obtained a copy and took it home to read for himself. What he discovered was shocking. The book was fraught with detailed fully nude pictures of people doing sexual acts, all under the guise of sex education. Even the progressive writer was forced to admit, “The images are graphic, and it’s startling to me to think they’re intended for kids who aren’t even in middle school yet.”
Lest you think that Slate is joining the conservative bandwagon, this is where Ismail brought in quotes from so-called “sex educator” Melissa Pinto Carnagey, who assures readers that it’s a good thing for elementary students to see graphic images of sex acts. After all, she reasons, it’s better that they find these images in “educational books” than on the internet.
This sloppy reasoning is exactly why parents should reject these phony “experts” and their advice. Pornography is bad for kids, no matter how you justify it, and only parents can protect their children from it.
