Experience the American dream with today’s Patriot of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.
It’s July 8, 1776. I’m in Philadelphia at the Statehouse Tower with Benjamin Franklin. The Liberty Bell has been ringing for hours as a huge Declaration of Independence party is going on all over the city.
JG: “Ben, what’s the inscription I see on the Liberty Bell?”
BF: “John, it’s a quote from the Bible from Leviticus chapter 25, verse 10. It says, ‘Proclaim liberty throughout all the land and unto all the inhabitants thereof.’ We’re celebrating today because God has made us free.”
