It’s December 14, 1777. I’m with Continental Army surgeon Dr. Waldo at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania,
JG: “Dr. Waldo, are you able to help our wounded boys?”
AW: “Mr. Gillespie, I am sick and discouraged. We are fatigued with no shelter and no food. Our clothes are thin, there is no medicine. Blood soaks the snow. Hopefully, God will hear our prayers and those of General Washington.”
They did survive, and as spring arrived, American troops turned the tide of the war and secured freedom.
