Experience the American dream with today’s Patriot of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.
It’s January 21, 1776. I’m with Patriot writer Thomas Paine. His pamphlet, Common Sense, is causing a sensation as thousands of Americans are reading it and calling for independence.
TP: “Mr. Gillespie, King George is the royal brute of Great Britain who destroys our God-given rights. Everything that is right or reasonable pleads for separation. Now, it is time to part, and we must convince every freedom-loving heart!”
Common Sense inspired Americans to declare independence on the fourth of July, 1776.
Read more about how Common Sense inspired the War for Independence.
John and Jan Gillespie are the founders of the Rawhide Boys’ Ranch; they have fostered 351 teenagers and wrote the book Our 351 Sons; they have also assisted numerous churches in developing youth programs and expanding their total church ministries. After running for U.S. Senate, John founded 1776 American Dream, which exists to demonstrate the vision of our founding fathers and help our generation of youth passionately embrace those values.
