Patrick Henry – June 11, 1787

Experience the American dream with today’s Patriot of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.

It’s June 11, 1787. I’m with the Governor of Virginia, Patrick Henry.

JG: “Governor Henry, sir, what are your thoughts about the Constitutional Convention?”

PH: “Mr. Gillespie, I smell a rat! We need enough government to protect our God given rights, but most assuredly not too much government to destroy our hard fought liberty.”

While Governor Henry did not agree with some of the Constitutional Convention conclusions, he was a leader in establishing the Bill of Rights to protect Americans from abusive control.
