It’s June 1, 1765. I’m in the Virginia House of Burgesses with one of its members, Patrick Henry.
JG: “Mr. Henry, you sound like you’re on the brink of calling for war. That would be considered treason.”
PH: “Mr. Gillespie, the Quartering Act, the Stamp Act, the Sugar Act … now it’s time for us to act! We must resist! We must fight for freedom, and if this be treason, then let’s make the most of it!”
Patrick Henry did make the most of it, as he continued to stir the hearts of Americans to fight for freedom.
