Experience the American dream with today’s Patriot of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.
It’s October 17, 1794. I’m at the Presidential House with the First Lady, Martha Washington.
JG: “Mrs. Washington, as you enter into your husband’s second term, what are your thoughts on his presidency?”
MW: “Oh, Mr. Gillespie, my husband did not want this job. But for the love of freedom and the American dream, we decided to leave our peaceful years at Mount Vernon. He truly loves America and his people.”
The Washington’s played a major role in setting America on a firm foundation of freedom.
