It’s December 26, 1776, the day after Christmas and the day after the famous crossing of the Delaware. I’m in the captured Hessian camp with Jacob and Joseph Martin.
JG: “Well, Mr. Martin, I guess General Washington isn’t so crazy after all!”
JaM: “No, Mr. Gillespie, he isn’t. When I saw him praying last night, I knew we would prevail. I also saw my son, Joseph, and many young boys become men last night. They faced their fears of battle and courageously fought for freedom. I am so proud of every one of them.”
