Experience the American dream with today’s Patriot of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.
It’s December 1, 1776. The Yankees have just lost New York City, and it looks bleak for the American cause for liberty. I’m in Hannah Arnett’s house. Her husband and a number of patriots are considering signing a declaration of allegiance to England.
HA: “Have you gentlemen made your decision yet? Have you chosen the part of men or traitors? We are poor, weak, and few, but we counted the cost, and we’re willing to pay the price. You call yourselves men? Oh, shame on you, cowards!”
Hannah Arnett’s bold words encouraged the wavering patriots to remain steadfast for freedom.
