Experience the American dream with today’s Patriot of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.
It’s July 1, 1813. I’m in New London, Connecticut, and we’re fighting the British who are shelling the American troops. Here comes American Revolutionary War heroine, Anna Warner.
JG: “Anna! What’s that?”
AW: “John, it’s my marriage petticoat. My svelte figure don’t need it anymore. We need it for cartridge wadding. Let’s use my petticoat to get ’em Redcoats.”
Get ’em, we did, as the British were eventually turned away from American shores.
