Experience the American dream with today’s Patriot of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.
It’s June 29, 1808. I’m in Hawkins County, Tennessee, with Davy Crockett.
JG: “Davy, why are you fighting alongside General Andrew Jackson?”
DC: “Johnny, you can bet your bottom dollar I’m gonna holler for truth and fight for freedom in America.”
Although Davy Crockett had very little schooling, his favorite saying was, “Be sure you are right, then go ahead.” Davy fought for freedom and was elected to Congress three times.
