It’s October 17, 1777. I’m with General Horatio Gates. We just witnessed a resounding American victory at the Battle of Saratoga.
JG: “General Gates, congratulations on your outstanding victory! What agreement have you just made with the British?”
HG: “Mr. Gillespie, the British have agreed, on their honor, to leave Boston, go back to London with 5,000 red coats, and never set foot on American soil again.”
The Revolutionary War continued a few more years, but with 5,000 less British.
