Experience the American dream with today’s Patriots of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.
It’s December 10, 1776. I’m with the Edenton Tea Party ladies, Penelope Barker and Elizabeth King. They are in great spirits even though we’re at war.
PB & EK: “Joy to the world! The Lord is come! Let earth receive her King; let every heart prepare Him room, and heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing…”
JG: “Ladies, we’re at war. How can you be so joyous?”
EK: “John, we know our sons, husbands, and families are suffering this winter, but we also know that the joy of the Lord is our strength.”
“… neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” – Nehemiah 8:10
John and Jan Gillespie are the founders of the Rawhide Boys’ Ranch; they have fostered 351 teenagers and wrote the book Our 351 Sons; they have also assisted numerous churches in developing youth programs and expanding their total church ministries. After running for U.S. Senate, John founded 1776 American Dream, which exists to demonstrate the vision of our founding fathers and help our generation of youth passionately embrace those values.
