South Dakota is declaring itself a pro-life state and backing it up with action. Governor Kristi Noem proclaimed twenty twenty-four as Freedom For Life Year. She said, “That freedom extends to every single South Dakotan – before they are born; after they are born; until the day they die.” In addition, their Bright Start program helps with mothers and their babies until the child is two years old. They also have a website that provides helpful means for pregnancy, birth, parenting, or adoption. This can be a lifeline for new parents with limited resources. This holistic approach from the Governor, legislature and the good people of South Dakota shows that they are willing to put their money, time and resources where their mouths and hearts are. Let’s hope other states follow their lead.
