Viability, the measure by which doctors can keep a very premature baby alive outside the womb is twenty-one weeks.  But these victories are far and few.  Just one or two weeks older increases significantly the chance of a baby living.  Chelsea Kiew was born at twenty-two weeks.  Doctors gave her a near-zero chance of survival.  But her vitals were strong and they did all they could to keep this tiny baby alive.  And live she did.  Chelsea is now five years old.  Stop to think that when born, Chelsea was just over halfway through her pregnancy.  The University of Iowa and Stead Family Children’s Hospital maintain a list of very premature babies born around the world dating back to nineteen thirty-six.  Now consider that several states allow abortion on babies their age.
