An anonymous mother drove her car up the driveway of Lake County Fire Station in Clermont, Florida. Dan Miller was the firefighter on duty that day. She handed him a sleeping little baby girl. Under the county’s Safe Haven program women can drop off their babies within thirty days of birth to any hospital, fire station or other emergency location. No questions asked. Over four hundred babies have been saved so far. The firefighters transported the sleeping baby to the local hospital. Fast forward eighteen years and the little girl has graduated high school. Colleen Katich made an appearance at the station in her cap and gown. It was a reunion of sorts that warmed the hearts of the guys who were at the station and that little girl, all grown up.
