The mother cannot be charged but those who assisted her can face stiff civil penalties. This novel approach to protecting the unborn is likely giving significant heartburn to those who aided this woman. Traveling out of state and ordering abortion pills by mail results in many aborted babies in states where they are legally protected. Key to saving their lives might be a novel approach like this.
