Auntie Angie’s

Angela had her first baby at fifteen.  She gave birth to her second while chained to a bed in jail.  Among the births was an abortion.  Once out of jail, this mother of four lived on the streets.  Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr. befriended and mentored Angela, giving her a second chance when no one else would.  Now Angela runs a maternity home called Auntie Angie’s that offers housing, mental health counseling, food, clothing, job training and more to homeless women.  Everything is free and women and their children can stay up to two years.  Angela knew that after the demise of Roe, much more needed to be done for women in crisis.  Those who have been on the side of desperate need often do the best at helping others.
