The Alabama IVF saga continues. Acting out of fear, pro-life legislators in the state produced an awful bill after the Court’s ruling. It protects the IVF industry from prosecution and civil lawsuits. A pro-life sponsor of the bill called it “the temporary fix.” Well, they have some explaining to do. How does it protect left over human embryos from being thrown out like yesterday’s trash? What recourse do parents have if the provider implanted the wrong embryo from another set of parents? What if they sell a couple’s embryos for experimentation? This law appears to do more to protect the IVF industry than innocent human lives. They should follow Louisiana’s example of IVF without killing embryos.
