Fast Facts: Birds (Part 4)

Welcome to Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope!

I’m Carl Kerby, and we’re talking about birds.

Did you know:

  • When mallard ducks nap, those on the perimeter sleep with one eye open so predators can’t sneak up on them?  They can control which half of their brain keeps working while the other half rests.
  • An albatross bird has been seen soaring in the air for as long as 6 hours, without moving its wings.
  • The Sooty Tern spends more time in the air than any other bird.  It’ll fly for up to 5 years without ever settling on water or land!

What about the land animal with the largest eye … do you know what it is? The winner is … the ostrich!  Their eye is as big as a billiard ball.  It’s actually bigger than their brain!

Fact is, God designed birds in so many unique ways, so we’ll have to talk more about them in the next Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope.

Until then … stay bold!
