Fast Facts: Butterfly (Part 6)

Welcome to Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope!

I’m Carl Kerby, and we’re talking about butterflies.

This time we’re sharing a “shotgun” approach and summarizing as many miracles as we can in this super-short segment!

A butterfly starts off as a caterpillar and eats 7 times its weight every day for 12 days!  That’s 3,000 times its birth weight in under 2 weeks.  Now that’s a big baby!

The caterpillar then forms a casing called a chrysalis, where it digests itself and dissolves into a ghastly goo before becoming a completely different organism.  This is called metamorphosis …  or better yet … a miracle!

When he gets out of the chrysalis, he still has to put some things together … like connecting his straw-like tongue and filling up his wings for flight.

And then he flies to the same winter home without ever having been there before.

One more thing … this only has to happen for 20,000 different species!

Fact is … Someone HAS to be conducting all of this!  Can you guess Who?

Wow, that’s a mouthful!

Until next time … stay bold!
