Fast Facts: Butterfly (Part 3)

Welcome to Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope!

I’m Carl Kerby, and we’re talking about the butterfliy’s birthing chamber.

Many think of this as a cocoon, but it’s actually called a chrysalis.

The chrysalis can only be described as a small miracle factory that happens when a caterpillar secretes a fluid and becomes encased in what biologists refer to as a “miraculous mold.”

Once inside, the caterpillar experiences complete cell death and is literally digested into a soup.

Somehow, almost instantly, a butterfly takes shape.  But the real miracle is how it forms complex systems where there were none before.

In goes a simple caterpillar that just eats, digests, and barely sees shadows.  Out comes an engineering marvel with complex eyes, six long lean legs, an antennae, a feeding tube called a proboscis, a muscular system for flying, and a set of wings that should be hung in an art gallery!

Fact is … metamorphosis violates every area of evolution.  Natural selection simply cannot compete with the chrysalis Creator!

We’ll talk more about this amazing creature in another Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope.

Until then … stay bold!
