Fast Facts: Frogs (Part 2)

Welcome to Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope!

I’m Carl Kerby and we’re talking about one of my favorite animals on the whole planet: the frog.

Did you know there are approximately 5, 500 different kinds of frogs?  That’s a lotta’ frogs!

Frogs can be found on every continent on our planet, except … Antarctica.

There’s the “Glass Frog” that lives in Southern Mexico, Central & South America.  Their bodies are clear.  You can actually watch their hearts beat.  You can also see what they ate for dinner!  I love it.

How about the “Monkey Frog?” They’re also from South America.  The males make nests for the females to lay their eggs on leaves in trees above small pools of water.

As they mature the jelly in their egg dissolves and their body weight increases, causing them to slide down the leaf and drop into the water below. There they continue to grow until becoming a fully mature frog.  Unbelievable!

And there’s more, that we’ll talk about next time.  Until then … stay bold!
