Fast Facts: Alligators – Part VI

Welcome to Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope! I’m Carl Kerby, and, today, we’re going to be talking about the alligator.

The fact is, God designed the alligator for the water. They have two eyelids. One, like ours, covers their eyes. Another clear one protects their eye while underwater and allows them to see through it!

They also have a flap of skin covering their ear, protecting their ear canal. But water may still seep in, so God gave them a membrane to stretch across their ear canal in order to protect their eardrum from water damage.

What about their noses?  Well, God gave them a “nose clip” so they don’t have to go buy one … ha! They have muscles which clamp their nostrils shut so water can’t get in

Lastly, they have a flap of tissue at the back of their tongue which seals their throat shut so water can’t get into their lungs even if they open their mouth underwater!

I hope you’ve appreciated God’s amazing design of the alligator.  Stay tuned for more Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope. Until then, stay bold!
