So, did you figure out how many teeth an alligator has? They’ll actually have up to 70-80 teeth at any one time! Wow! Now, that’s a good thing for a predator like the alligator, but it’s a bad thing when you don’t have a dentist to care for them!
Think about it, the American alligator has a bite force of over 2,900 PSI, giving it the 5th strongest bite force of all the known animals today. Did you know that the strongest bite force ever recorded was by a saltwater crocodile? Their bite force registered in at an amazing 3,700 PSI!
Biting down with that much force can damage an alligator’s teeth, though. When that happens, who do you think fixes their teeth? You’ll be glad to know that God designed them to grow new teeth when they need them! They’ll actually go through about 3,000 teeth in an average lifetime.
