Welcome to Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope! I’m Carl Kerby.
Today, we’re going to finish talking about the tiny, but mighty shrew.
We’ve talked about how this hyperactive, high metabolic creature forages all day and night to keep its body weight up; how it can make a quick escape by using hair on its feet, which allows it to “walk” on water; and how it has venomous saliva to paralyze prey. But, wait, there’s more!
The shrew has exceedingly poor eyesight so God created it with long, sensitive whiskers and echolocation, helping it to be an amazing hunter!
It also has excellent hearing and superior camouflage skills which allow it to hide from its many predators. If it does get caught, its glands produce a foul-tasting, musky smell which makes the predator abandon its meal in disgust.
There’s no way all of these superpowers came about by accident and that’s why the shrew is another example of God’s perfect design.
