When leaving its burrow at night to forage, this nocturnal animal has a very unique ritual it follows…
First, it will stop at the entrance of its burrow for about ten minutes and just… wait. Its eyesight is very poor so it relies on its keen sense of smell and hearing.
If it hasn’t detected any predators after this time, it will make a mad dash from its burrow and run over thirty feet in just a few seconds. Then, it will freeze and start the sniffing and listening process again!
A short time later, if no predator is detected, it will head off and start to do some serious damage on the ant and termite population!
