George Barna released a survey showing that 104 million people of faith, which includes 32 million Christian regular church goers, are projected to abstain from voting in the upcoming election. This is a staggering figure considering that we have important issues at stake such as religious liberty, the lives of the pre-born and sexual immorality being promoted in our education system.
Recognizing this fact, Crosstalk invited Debbie Wuthnow as a guest. She is president of iVoterGuide, a division of American Family Association Action. Debbie joined iVoterGuide in 2011 as a data analyst and was named president in 2018.
Debbie began by noting how the statistics tend to validate the idea that stewardship and civic responsibility are not being taught in the schools or even churches. Instead, apparently many people are just going to go on with their lives choosing to be ignorant of the impact that those we elect have over every aspect of our lives. This explains why we have the kind of government or school districts that we have because people aren’t voting their values by participating in the voting process.
Review this critical edition of Crosstalk and you’ll discover just how important it is to recognize the stewardship of your vote. For example, Debbie covered the following:
- Do Christians really have an accountability before God as to if or how they cast their vote?
- Why are some Christians hesitant to vote?
- Can Christian voters impact the outcome of an election?
- How can illegal immigrants affect an election?
- How does iVoterGuide work?
There’s much more to take in, including plenty of input from Crosstalk listeners.
