Mat Staver is founder & chairman of Liberty Counsel.  Mat is a constitutional attorney with three landmark cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.  He’s an author and the host of the radio broadcasts Faith & Freedom and Freedom’s Call.

Just before 2pm Eastern Time, in a unanimous vote by Republicans, the House of Representatives elected 51 year old Louisiana Congressman Mike Johnson as the new Speaker of the House.  This comes at a critical time as funding is requested for war, there are appropriations bills before Congress and funding is needed to run the government.

Mat has known Johnson for many years.  He described Johnson as a solid Christian who is very strong on issues such as religious freedom, the sanctity of human life and God’s design for marriage and family.  Mat noted that Johnson hasn’t let Washington, DC, change his values and he’s very well thought of by his colleagues.

In audio presented by Jim, Johnson explained how he’s going to approach the job with an attitude of servant leadership.  He wants Congress to serve the people and restore their faith in this Congress.

Jim then had Mat comment on the Hamas attack on Israel, a highly orchestrated attack designed to kill, mutilate and dismember Israeli’s and generally create as much mayhem as possible.

Two critical aspects of this portion of the program dealt with the following:

Mat indicated that the Palestinian Authority budget is up to 27 million dollars per month that is being paid in benefits to the families of terrorists who do harm to and kill Jews.  This “welfare system” is the incentive as these benefits are paid for life.  Where do they get this money?  Part of it comes from the U.S.  Trump stopped this when they refused to not use the money for terrorism but President Biden restored the funding.

Next, this week, U.N. Secretary General, Antonio Guterres accused Israel of violating international law by retaliating against Hamas and called for an immediate truce that would leave Hamas in power.  He said that the attacks by Hamas “did not happen in a vacuum” and that the Palestinian people have been subjected to “suffocating occupation” for 56 years.

In the second half of the program Jim provided audio from Tal Heinrich, a spokesperson for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.  The audio was from an appearance on Fox News where she was responding to the comments made by the U.N. Secretary General.

Callers from across America capped off this information-packed program with their comments.
