You may hear about things taking place in our nation, the legislature, your city and county governments as well as the schools and you become frustrated at the magnitude of it all. You may throw up your arms and say, “I’m only one person! What can I do?”

Have you ever felt that way? Many years ago when issues came up, people sprang up from all quarters to stop the oppression. They were called Minutemen. Today we’re seeing that same thing as mothers are springing up and tackling the assault on children in the schools. Their name? The Kitchen Militia!

Appearing on Crosstalk to discuss this movement was Tom DeWeese. Tom is the president of American Policy Center. Tom is one of the nation’s leading advocates of individual liberty, free enterprise, private property rights, personal privacy, back-to-basics education and American sovereignty and independence and protecting our Constitutionally-guaranteed rights. He’s author of Sustainable: The War on Free Enterprise, Private Property and Individuals and Erase a political novel.

The Minutemen of 1775 were simply citizens that made the basis for the continental army. When word got out that they were needed, out they went, hence their name.

How this pertains to today was described as Tom talked about the federal assault on children in the local schools. Tom became involved in this battle in the ’90’s when Bill Clinton was president and he was putting a package in place that included Goals 2000, School to Work and The Careers Act (Also known as Workforce Development). All of this was basically socialization of the education system.

Tom noted that the most frightening thing about all of this is that at the time there was a Republican majority in Congress and it was Republicans that were putting these bills in place. In essence what they were doing was eliminating the basics of history, reading, writing and arithmetic and replacing them with behavior modification. The idea was to get control of how the children think rather than teaching them what they should know. This way they could craft children into becoming the perfect global citizen.

Jim had Tom describe Equity Collaborative, one of the current projects that represents the modern outgrowth of these past efforts. Equity Collaborative is an NGO operation that has to do with how the various races are treated. Loudoun County, Virginia, paid the collaborative a large sum of money to put this process into their education system.

The problem is that those implementing this effort don’t want to let adults know what the curriculum is. In fact, according to Tom, the co-founder of Equity Collaborative said that adults are in the way and that kids change much faster. For them, attitudes, values and beliefs are at the core of it so one has to wonder, what do they want the kids to change to?

Tom went on to describe Social Emotional Learning (SEL). This is another feelings-based concept. The idea is that we have children out protesting because they’re offended by someone who has a different opinion. In other words, make sure we’re not offending the kids, make things easy for them and once again, train them to become that perfect global citizen.

Finally there’s Critical Race Theory. Instead of resting upon the words of Martin Luther King (judging by the quality of their character rather than skin color), this ideology flips that narrative by making everything about race. For example, Tom described how CRT has affected the thinking of some people as they respond to the recent phenomenon of “grab and run” robberies. They’ll claim that those who committed the act probably needed those items so it’s ok to steal those things.

Tom believes that all such efforts are designed to drive a wedge in our society and erase who we were, what we were and look at that history as tyrannical and racist.

Jim also included his own thoughts as he mentioned the sexuality education, the LGBT+ indoctrination and gender preferences; all interwoven into the current assault on young people.
