Next week Tuesday, October 8th, the United States Supreme Court will be hearing a trio of cases that will have a huge impact upon this nation as it relates to how they interpret civil rights in our nation, specifically Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The outcome of their decision could impact every church, every school and every business across the nation.
Joining Jim to discuss this matter and to encourage you to be praying for the court was Mat Staver. Mat is the founder & Chairman of Liberty Counsel. He has over 230 published legal opinions and has authored 8 scholarly law review publications and 10 books. He’s also filed numerous briefs, argued in many federal and state courts and has argued two landmark cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Discussion began with Mat’s thoughts concerning what’s transpired in the House of Representatives with Speaker Nancy Pelosi moving forward with an impeachment inquiry.
Mat believes this is another area where it appears that the Democrats have no interest in the well-being of the nation. In spite of other concerns domestically and internationally, they want to dig up what Mat described as ‘nonsense.’
As a result the news cycle has been filled with details about a situation involving former Vice President Joe Biden, his son and the former president of Ukraine, an interesting change made to the ‘whistle-blower’ complaint form and how all of this relates to President Trump’s judicial picks.
Next week Tuesday, October 8th, oral arguments will be heard on 3 cases:
–Bostock v. Clayton County, GA
–Altitude Express, Inc. v. Zarda
–R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes v. EEOC.
Concerning the first two cases, discussion involved whether or not the word ‘sex’, going back to the 1964 civil rights decision, should be interpreted to include sexual orientation. In the funeral home case, it was about how the term ‘sex’ is to be viewed in the realm of gender identity.
Mat laid out the details and you can hear them all, including input from listeners, when you review this Crosstalk broadcast.
