Made over 4 decades ago, the matters portrayed in the movie, ‘A Thief in the Night’ still resonate as though it was filmed yesterday. It’s estimated that over 300 million viewers have seen this film over the years and countless numbers of people have come to faith in Christ because of it.
Joining Jim to discuss this classic movie was Rich Christiano. Rich is a film writer, director and producer. In 2001 he, along with his brother Dave, formed Five & Two Pictures. Rich has been involved with multiple films. He is the writer, director and producer of such films as ‘The Appointment’, ‘Time Changer’, ‘Unidentified’, and ‘The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry’ as well as ‘A Matter of Faith’.
According to Rich, the history of Christian films begins with ‘A Thief in the Night’. Its executive producer was the late Russell Doughten. Russell was a very godly, evangelistic man. He produced 16 movies, all of which presented a clear gospel.
Rich gave listeners an overview of Russell’s career. He described how the Lord not only communicated to Russell that he didn’t want him making films for Hollywood, but how he confirmed that through a woman who was brought in to help Russell during the script writing for one of his early efforts.
This Crosstalk also features select movie soundtrack clips along with comments from Crosstalk listeners, some of which show how for many years, the Lord has used these movies to change people’s lives.
