Robert Romano is senior editor of Americans for Limited Government, an organization that’s committed to identify, expose and work with Congress and state legislatures to prevent the continued expansion of government.
The early minutes of this Crosstalk dealt with Vice President Joe Biden who has decided not to run for the presidency and also whether Congressman Paul Ryan will become the next Speaker of the House.
The program then continued by noting that on November first we’ll witness what is believed to be the largest, one-time release of criminal prisoners in American history. In excess of 46,000 prisoners will be released. This is in addition to those already in our nation who were not stopped at our southern border, the sanctuary city criminals as well as the influx of tens of thousands of Muslim refugees who follow Shariah law.
The history of this decision dates back to last year when the U.S. Sentencing Commission announced that it was going to begin releasing criminal drug offenders. According to the U.S. Attorneys Association these are not low-level possession drug offenders. These are drug traffickers that could have had gang connections and gun charges against them as well.
In addition, the Senate (controlled by so-called conservatives) has their own bi-partisan piece of legislation that would release several thousand more offenders including those who have been sentenced for dealing crack cocaine.
According to Robert, when finished this should reduce the federal prison population by more than 25%. In essence, America will then have approximately 50,000 felons hitting the streets.
