Vic began this edition of Crosstalk by noting yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling that allows for same-sex marriages in many states. This progress by the homosexual community didn’t happen overnight. Preparations were made for this a generation ago or longer with people teaching values that are contrary to Christian biblical values.
The acceptance of transgenderism appears to be in the planning stage as some in our society are seeking to swiftly and subtly introduce pro-transgender policies into schools. For example, in September the personnel committee at Sparta High School in Sparta, Wisconsin, voted unanimously to create a gender identity policy that gives boys who identify as girls the right to be involved in girls gym classes, participate in girls intramural sports and the ability to use the girls locker and rest rooms. The school board tabled the matter until next Tuesday (October 14th).
Vic cited a Williams Institute (at U.C.L.A.) study indicating that the estimated transgender adult population of the U.S. is at .3% (three-tenths of one percent). This means that out of the student population at Sparta High School, less than 3 students are likely to consider themselves as transgender In other words, there is no historic precedent or statistical basis that points to a great need for such policies. In spite of this, there are those who contend that such policies are needed for those individuals who claim to have a deep seeded sense of a different gender at any given moment.
Have you examined the curriculum that your children deal with on a daily basis? Do you attend PTA meetings? Have you run for open school board positions? These are things to think about as Vic looks at this crucial topic and how it’s also affecting communities in the states of Kentucky, Minnesota and Nebraska.
