David Rubin is the former mayor of Shiloh, Israel. He is the Founder and President of Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund dedicated to healing the trauma of children who have been victims of terrorist attacks and is the author of several books including, ‘Peace for Peace: Israel in the New Middle East’ and ‘The Islamic Tsunami: Israel and America in the Age of Obama’.
Vic began this edition of Crosstalk with an interesting audio clip of President Obama telling the young people of America that if you had to pick a time to be born in human history, our current era would be the best time. He claimed that the world is less violent than it’s ever been, healthier, more tolerant, better fed and more educated.
The problem is, how can he say this when the Middle East alone is exploding with violence and oppression as has been witnessed in recent days through the activities of a group that calls itself, ISIS?
In response, David Rubin presented his views on the following points related to Israel, the United States and the Middle East:
–The latest on the teenagers who were allegedly kidnapped at a bus stop in Israel.
–Who is ISIS, the group that is taking over cities in Iraq and what is their goal?
–Nancy Pelosi’s blaming of President Bush for the ISIS uprising.
–The U.S. had the ISIS leader in custody in 2009 at a U.S. led camp in Southern Iraq and we let him go. Will the terrorists that we recently let go come back to haunt us?
–Are Iran’s nuclear ambitions still intact?
–ISIS is threatening to invade Jordan. What would the implications be for Israel?
–The battle in Syria and the U.S. aid to the rebels.
–Jihadists allegedly have 170,000 missiles aimed at Israel. Is there talk of military action to be taken by Israel?
–The Israeli’s voted for a new Knesset president. What is his perspective on peace in the region?
