Dr. E. Calvin Beisner is the founder and national spokesman of the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation. He is an interdisciplinary scholar specializing on the application of biblical worldview, theology and ethics to economics, environmental stewardship, political philosophy, public policy and apologetics. Dr. Beisner has testified as an expert witness on the theology, ethics, science and economics of climate change policy before the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and the Energy and Environment Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce.

Recently a visitor to the Cornwall Alliance website challenged the organization to show them the hard science behind their beliefs, questioned the credentials of the organization’s scientists and accused them of propagating lies.

Dr. Beisner explained to Crosstalk listeners how the Cornwall Alliance seeks to glorify God in creation, the wisdom of His truth in environmental stewardship, the kindness of His mercy in lifting the needy out of poverty and the wonders of His grace in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

He followed this up by noting how they seek to express the fact that a lot of environmental policies, whether intentional or not, have a profoundly harmful effect on the poor. The Cornwall Alliance seeks to prevent the adoption of such policies or to roll them back where they’ve been adopted while at the same time being a good steward of God’s creation.

Dr. Beisner then went on to explain how the Cornwall Alliance is a network of evangelical theologians, scientists and economists. Each category makes up approximately one-third of the network.

Concerning the e-mailer’s desire to see ‘hard science’ from the Cornwall Alliance, Dr. Beisner noted that among those within the climate change alarmist camp there’s a heavy reliance upon computer models that generate scenarios for the future climate. These scenarios are nothing more than hypotheses. They’re very complicated and sophisticated but they’re not real-world, observational data. He cited a 6-year study indicating how the modelers have lost the ability to distinguish between their models and the real world.

Jim also had Dr. Beisner respond to comments from a top Obama advisor named Alice Hill, comments from President Obama himself as well as those of Crosstalk listeners.
