Ten years ago on this day, President Ronald Reagan passed away. At the time, he was America’s longest living president.
Reagan was elected in 1980 having won 44 of the 50 states over Jimmy Carter and then was reelected in 1984 by a landslide winning 49 out of 50 states in the election against Walter Mondale.
Surveys today by Gallup and other groups find that Americans regularly rank Reagan as their all-time favorite president.
President Reagan stood for freedom, faith, family, the sanctity and dignity of human life, American exceptionalism, the wisdom and vision of the founders, lower taxes, limited government, peace through strength, anti-communism and belief in the individual.
This broadcast goes back in time to 1984 and features President Reagan’s speech before the National Religious Broadcasters followed by comments of remembrance by listeners.
