Jim presented Crosstalk listeners with headlines highlighting problems that are symptomatic of a much larger issue; the idea that we are a nation that is clearly and openly rejecting God. For example:
–U.S. Magistrate rules that Idaho’s ban on marriage equality is unconstitutional.
–Some atheists recommend public mockery and ridicule of Jesus in response to the Greece vs. Galloway decision allowing prayer before public gatherings.
–ACLU protests distribution of Bibles to 5th graders in Miller, South Dakota.
–Military Association of Atheists and Free Thinkers seek their own version of chaplains in the military.
–A New York-based satanist group has released photos of its sculptured homage to Satan which is seeking to be placed next to a Ten Commandments monument on the grounds of the Oklahoma State Capitol building.
–11 Cleveland and Akron, Ohio, billboards introduce area atheists and agnostics to the community.
–The Freedom From Religion Foundation has announced the special ‘Nothing Fails Like Prayer’ award contest for the best secular invocation at a government meeting.
–The Freedom from Religion Foundation becomes ‘unglued’ when the Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, public utility noted on their website that their offices would be closed for the Good Friday holiday.
–The first atheist TV channel debuts this summer via the Internet.
–The organization known as Black Atheists of America is trying to raise awareness of atheism within the African-American community.
–American Atheists held their national convention last month at Salt Lake City, Utah.
–The 2014 national convention for the Freedom from Religion Foundation will be held in Los Angeles October 24th and 25th and will feature a non-prayer breakfast.
–Edwin Kagin, instrumental in American Atheists Association, recently died at age 73.
In addition to these stories, Jim also played audio cuts from the late President Ronald Reagan and afterward referenced Scripture, showing the folly of ignoring the biblical principles that were embraced by our nation’s founders.
