Jim began this edition of Crosstalk with the following news item:

–The U.S. House of Representatives will be voting this week on the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act (HR-7). This act will put a complete ban on taxpayer funding of abortions, will make sure abortions are not directly funded in any federal governmental program or department and will stop the hidden abortion fees that are part of Obamacare. Numerous sources are reporting that during tonight’s State of the Union address, President Obama may communicate a desire to extend executive powers in a way that some might see as unprecedented or possibly unconstitutional. Below is a sample of headlines that Jim presented that indicate those concerns:

–In an e-mail to supporters over the weekend, Senior White House Advisor Dan Pfeiffer implied that the President will push forward on his own agenda, with or without the consent of Congress.

–Robert Knight, a Senior Fellow at the American Civil Rights Union, is fearful about what the President is proposing.

–The front page of Monday’s Washington Post communicated that the White House is reorganizing itself to support a more executive focused presidency and inviting the rest of government to help.

–CNS News reported that the President has ‘warmed up’ to using executive authority.

–The Associated Press has reported that President Obama will announce he is raising the minimum wage for new federal contract workers to $10.10 per hour.

–WND.com reports that the President has already announced a major theme of his remaining time in office and that’s to fix income inequality.
