The push for climate change legislation and enactments is continuing with a great fervor, whether it be by executive order by the President, or another U.N. climate change conference like the one that is currently taking place in Warsaw, Poland.

Joining Jim Schneider to discuss this issue was Dr. E. Calvin Beisner. Dr. Beisner is a spokesman for the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation and is also an author and speaker on the application of the biblical worldview to economics, government and environmental policy. He has published over 10 books, hundreds of articles and has contributed to or edited many other books.

The current U.N. climate conference is seeking to craft a binding global agreement on carbon dioxide emissions from nations around the world. They’ve tried to do this via the Kyoto Protocol in 1997, Copenhagen in 2009 and in Cancun in 2010. Next year the plan is for a meeting in Lima, Peru, then Paris in 2015 with the hope of a full treaty to go into effect in 2020.

In the end, Dr. Beisner believes the treaty will not go through because it will require a kind of suicide on the part of developing nations by committing themselves to not using the most abundant, affordable and reliable fuel sources that they need in order to be lifted out of poverty. He also believes it won’t go through because by signing on, developed nations would condemn themselves to losing a lot of businesses, particularly on the industrial level, that would leave for developing nations where energy prices would be much lower.

Other interesting points from the program included:

–President Obama issued an executive order informing his federal agencies that they are to work with states and communities as they prepare for the effects of climate change and to get all levels of the federal government involved. What will it cost and will this have any effect on the climate of the earth?

–Why the war on coal is unjustified unless you’re willing to define carbon dioxide as a dangerous pollutant.

–Depending upon what set of data you look at, there’s been no global warming over the past 17-23 years.

–How basic earth science proves, and why the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) agrees, that there is no connection between global warming and tragedies like the Philippines typhoon.

–Why faith and science are compatible.

–The facts behind acid rain.

…and much more.
