Cheryl Sullenger is the Senior Policy Advisor to Operation Rescue. She has attended and has been following the murder trial of Kermit Gosnell, an abortionist from the state of Pennsylvania.
Gosnell operated an abortion clinic in West Philadelphia that, according to Cheryl, was performing illegal abortions to women bussed in from other states even before Roe v. Wade. After Roe, Gosnell operated his clinic without much fanfare until his clinic was raided in 2010. The raid took place by police, F.B.I. and D.E.A. agents because his clinic is alleged to have been the source of many prescription pain killers that were being sold illegally on the streets of Philadelphia.
What authorities also found was a clinic that appeared to be doing illegal late term abortions. Not only were they being done past the gestational age but some were allegedly born alive and murdered by Gosnell and his untrained staff.
So along with drug violations, Gosnell is in the midst of a capital murder case having been charged with 7 counts of murdering newborn babies after abortions by inserting scissors into the back of their necks and snipping their spinal cords. He’s also being charged with 1 count of third degree murder in the death of one of his patients.
The jury was shown photos of the babies who had gaping wounds in the back of their necks and one crime scene unit officer testified that he discovered jars that contained the severed feet of babies.
Unfortunately there’s been no major network coverage of this trial.
Cheryl noted that the trial is currently in its fourth week and as of the time of this broadcast the prosecution was still presenting their case with the defense to present their side later.
