Jim began this edition of Crosstalk with news that the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence will vote tomorrow on the nomination of John Brennan to head our nation’s Central Intelligence Agency. If confirmed, he will be the most pro-Islam director to ever head the agency.
Christians have become drawn to social networking Internet sites like Facebook and Twitter but what kind of witness for Christ are non-believers seeing? Unfortunately, these social networking outlets are bringing out or causing many professing Christians to exhibit behavior we might not normally see from them; behaviors such as gossip, idolatry, glorification of self and poor time management. In essence, these sites can become so all-consuming that even Christian users can literally find themselves living in a virtual world.
If you participate in social networking, what kind of safeguards do you have in place for yourself? Do you monitor what your children send out on these sites? These are just two considerations that Jim presented as challenges to listeners as they responded to the question of whether Christians can show themselves as faithful when using social media.
