Avi Lipkin was born in New York, but at age 19 in August 1968 he moved to Israel. Avi served in the Israeli Defense Forces as a spokesman for the Judea and Samaria Command, and also served in the artillery reserves.

Avi began by noting how the nations that surround Israel literally want to wipe the Jewish state off the map. It’s not the first time Israel has been in Gaza or Lebanon and when they are forced to go in to defend themselves, they’ve had to leave due to pressure from the U.S. and the U.N. and this has allowed nations to regroup for the next round of attacks. In the case of missiles fired from Gaza toward Israel, they are often fired from civilian areas. Israel’s enemies do this knowing that if they retaliate, it can cause civilian casualties. In other words, Israel is hamstrung and must be surgically precise in their response.

Why hasn’t all-out war taken place yet? It could be due to the part Egypt must play. According to Avi, the Arab world cannot go to war against Israel unless Egypt is part of the coalition.

During the Arab Spring, Egypt’s leader, Hosni Mubarak was replaced by the fanatical Muslim Brotherhood. The U.S. government did get their new leader, Mohammed Morsi, to negotiate a cease-fire with Hamas but riots started against him because hatred against Israel is so great among Muslims. In fact, Avi believes that Egypt is going through a time of anarchy and perhaps even civil war.

Before the Arab Spring, Israel was facing four enemies: Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Syria and Iran. Because of the Arab Spring we see the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria on the brink as they fight against much of the population of Syria, most of which is comprised of Sunni Muslims who back the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood, in turn, is backed by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt and the State Department. If they win in Syria, 1 million Christians will be annihilated or forced to flee and the Muslim Brotherhood will make sure of that. Avi believes that will radiate into Lebanon. Lebanon is 28% Christian and 40% Hezbollah. The 40% that comprise Hezbollah are Shiites and are pouring in to Syria to defend Bashar al-Assad of Syria. So now we see the battle lines being drawn as Shiites from Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Iran are coming to Syria to fight for the Shiite cause and opposed to that are the Sunni’s from Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, all backed by the U.S.

Avi believes this mirrors what took place four thousand years ago when three armies came to destroy Jerusalem and they all ended up fighting one another.
