The name of the guest on this edition of Crosstalk, Reza Kahlili, is a pseudonym for a former CIA operative in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. Reza grew up in Iran and came to the U.S. to study computer science. His time was cut short with the sudden death of his father. He returned home to a country that saw significant change. Clinging to the hope of a Persian Renaissance, he joined the Revolutionary Guards, an elite force at the beck and call of the Ayatollah. But as Khomeini’s tyrannies unfolded, and many horrors witnessed, he returned to America to become a spy for the CIA with the hope of bringing about change in his homeland. He serves on the task Force on National and Homeland Security and the advisory board of the Foundation for Democracy in Iran. He is the author of the book, “A Time to Betray: The Astonishing Double Life of a CIA Agent inside the Revolutionary Guard of Iran”

Reza noted that Iran’s nuclear program started in the mid-1980’s. Pakistan eventually gave Iran the platform, the blueprints, the centrifuges and the “know-how” to build a nuclear bomb. Iran is enriching uranium out of two sites that we know of and have amassed enough uranium for 6 nuclear bombs. He also referenced work Iran is undertaking for intercontinental delivery of such devices along with work on a plutonium bomb.

How does Reza feel about Obama’s policy toward Iran’s nuclear ambitions? Where does Israel fit into this and can they attack Iran alone? Will any attack, whether it’s from Israel or a coalition of nations, collapse the global economy? Is it possible for the U.S. to show strength in this situation and shut down Iran’s nuclear advances while at the same time avoiding war? Find the answers by reviewing this critical edition of Crosstalk.
