Lindsay Vessey is the Advocacy Director for Open Doors USA. Open Doors works in the world’s most oppressive countries, strengthening Christians to stand strong in the face of persecution and equipping them to shine Christ’s light in these dark places. They also intercede by means of advocacy on behalf of those being persecuted.

This Crosstalk presented details concerning Rimsha Masih of Islamabad, Pakistan. She has been accused of blasphemy by a neighbor for allegedly burning pages from a Muslim holy book. Her exact age is unknown but she’s believed to be from 11 to 14 years old. Rimsha is illiterate and may have Down’s Syndrome. Lindsay noted that the evidence may have been planted by a Muslim cleric who has been arrested.

Rimsha’s charges have not been dropped but she has been released. This puts her life in danger because even if she’s acquitted, vigilante justice is common; therefore she is currently in an undisclosed location.
