Host: Vic Eliason
Guest: Daniel Weber
Daniel Weber is the founder of an organization for seniors known as the Association of Mature American Citizens. A.M.A.C. is a conservative alternative to the liberal American Association of Retired Persons (A.A.R.P.) and has been in existence since 2007.
Vic began this edition of Crosstalk with an audio cut from President Barack Obama who has admitted that Medicare is going broke.
After Mitt Romney’s announcement of Paul Ryan as his vice-presidential candidate, the liberal media began to scare seniors with the false notion that Ryan, if elected, would change Medicare as we know it.
Is this true? Daniel noted that President Obama is taking away billions from seniors as he attempts to do away with Medicare Advantage, yet he has the nerve to criticize Paul Ryan who is, in fact, trying to save the system.
Daniel admits that Obama’s health plan will save money but it will do so by rationing. Ryan’s plan will still have exchanges but there will be no federal option. The lack of a federal option will spur competition and actually help doctors make more money.
Vic also played an audio clip from Erskine Bowles. Bowles is the former Clinton administration White House Chief of Staff. He was appointed in 2010 as the Democratic co-chair of President Obama’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. In the clip, Mr. Bowles communicates his appreciation for the budgeting abilities of Paul Ryan.
Daniel also explained that the House committee that oversees Medicare investigated A.A.R.P. and found that they stand to gain 1 billion in commissions and royalties from their Medicare supplement policy.
