Mindless Logic?

Do you and I think? Or do we just think that we think? If you believe that we were created by God, your answer to that question will be that we actually do think. But if you believe that life is just a chemical accident, you might agree with those evolutionists who actually believe that we do not think. We only think we think.

Do you have a mind? What is that part inside your body that is really you? For thousands of years we referred to this part of us as the soul. But today, with the strong humanistic desire to remove all spiritual references from language, many people simply call it the mind. The problem (for those who believe in evolution) is that saying that we have a mind still sounds a lot like saying that we have a non-material part to our being. Besides, evolutionists generally admit that even evolution could not accidentally create something as powerfully intelligent as the mind. As one evolutionist put it, there is no central intelligence within us that is in charge because nothing could be that smart.

It seems to be a contradiction, then, that some evolutionists have written entire books explaining that none of us really has a conscious mind. One wonders why people who supposedly have no conscious minds would want to read a book written by someone else who also had no conscious mind.

Romans 1 tells us that when people deny their Creator, He eventually lets them sink into complete foolishness. As the Scriptures declare: “Claiming to be wise they became fools.”

Romans 1:20-22
“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools…”

Prayer:
Dear Father, none of us is perfect and so some foolishness even creeps into my life. I ask that You would make me eager to correct that foolishness with Your good and wise instruction in Scripture. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
